He graduated from Aberdeen University Medical School in 2000. Mr Spencer underwent his higher Orthopaedic training in Glasgow before completing a Fellowship in knee and sports knee injury surgery with Mr Tim Spalding at the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire.
He was awarded the 2012 British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK) Travelling Fellowship, travelling to Chicago to observe some of the latest techniques in cartilage and meniscus reconstruction.
Mr Spencer specialises in all forms of knee surgery from reconstruction to replacement. Some procedures regularly undertaken include: knee arthroscopy (keyhole surgery), anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, cartilage surgery and knee joint replacement. Further, Mr Spencer has a particular interest in meniscus repair, meniscus reconstruction with meniscal synthetic scaffolds (Actifit implant) and meniscal replacement.
